Rancho la Puerta
Some trips are about the exotic and unusual. And some are about the familiar and comfortable. Some manage to combine both. I have been going to Rancho la Puerta, a fitness and spa retreat in Tecate, Mexico off and on for the last 16 years. And while the setting is familiar, it never fails to provide me with something new. It’s a travel ritual that I feel fortunate to repeat.
Grand Canyon & Sedona
This was our first view of the Grand Canyon from the Desert View Watchtower.
Cinque Terre
Vernazza gets most of the press, and the view as you approach the town from the path is amazing. But that’s not the whole story! The five towns that comprise the Cinque Terre are all breathtaking.Tucked into a rugged section of coastline in the northwest corner of Italy, the Cinque Terre or Five Lands are a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Positano Cooking Vacation
This was the view from our balcony each morning during our week in Positano with Cooking Vacations! I had read about this trip in an issue of National Geographic Traveler and had tucked the idea in the back of my head til the time was right.
Rancho la Puerta
It was an article in the Travel section of the Boston Globe in 1996 that sparked my interest in Rancho la Puerta, a fitness resort in Tecate, Mexico. I tucked the newspaper in my wish list folder and periodically pulled it out to pour over the article. Fast forward a few years and I was arriving at ‘the ranch’ from the San Diego airport about to spend a week experiencing the magic of Rancho la Puerta!
