The Algarve, Portugal
Vilacampina, a nine room hotel in the sleepy little village of Luz de Tavira in the Algarve, was the perfect home base for six days in Portugal. The white-washed hotel is beautiful, with fig and olive trees lining the walk to the pool.
The staff were attentive but relaxed. Margarida made excellent dinner recommendations for us every night. We ate twice at Baixamar in the nearby seaside town of Santa Luzia, having local fresh fish each time.Vilacampina had four bikes available for guests so we set off one morning for a bike ride and to find a beach restaurant that was recommended for, what else...fresh fish! The beaches were quiet in September, the town of Tavira was beautiful and sipping port became a terrific way to end the day!
