Hawaii

UnCruise Adventures is a small ship cruise company that focuses on wilderness, wildlife and culture. I've written about them before as we have traveled to Costa Rica, Panama and Alaska with this company. This time we explored several Hawaiian Islands with UnCruise and got off the beaten path.

Alaska

No lines. No crowds. Big adventure. We experienced South East Alaska with UnCruise Adventures. With just 40 other guests onboard, UnCruise lived up to their tag line! We recently spent a week on the Wilderness Adventurer, an unassuming 30 cabin ship. Described by UnCruise Adventures as like your favorite, hippie-cool aunt, she’s sage, soulful, and […]

Miraval Berkshires

Just 100 miles from my home is the new Miraval Resort & Spa in Lenox, Massachusetts. I recently returned from a 3 night stay at this beautiful Hyatt property on the 380 acre grounds of the former Cranwell Estate. I arrived on a Sunday afternoon in time for a late afternoon restorative yoga class and […]

Vermont

This was our first visit to a hotel since COVID-19 happened. Despite feeling nervous, we were ready. Armed with negative tests 72 hours ahead of time and the car packed with wipes, masks and gloves we set off for our road trip. We stayed three nights at the Hotel Vermont and felt totally safe and […]

Napa Valley

While enjoying my coffee on our balcony over the river, I waited for the knock on the door that would announce our custom breakfast had arrived. Such is life at the Milliken Creek Inn and Spa in Napa, CA where we recently spent three nights. The previous evening we sipped local wine and ate cheese in the garden, compliments of the Inn as well. And when we arrived, there were cold beverages and warm cookies available in the lobby. So far, so good.

Portland, OR

Not sure where to begin…this was our first time in Portland OR and I hope it’s not our last! It’s a friendly city that is easy to walk around. People were polite. When the traffic light said ‘don’t walk’—no one walked! Cars didn’t attempt to run the yellow light, they waited!

Southampton, Ontario

I grew up swimming in Georgian Bay in crystal clear, cold water. When I first moved to Massachusetts and went swimming in a lake, I was horrified. The water was warm and the bottom of the lake was squishy! What a treat to return to Ontario this past weekend and swim in Lake Huron. This is what a lake is meant to be!
