Antigua
For those of you who have been reading this newsletter for awhile, you will know that my favourite Caribbean destination is the island of Nevis. That said, I was recently the guest of the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Board and Blue Waters Resort and Spa in Antigua and have to admit that this island is very special as well!

Nevis
Nevis is 36 square miles of paradise. A leeward island in the Caribbean that along with St Kitts forms the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis. It’s southeast of Puerto Rico, west of Antigua and just small enough to make it challenging to get to! That is also what makes it special…no casinos, no cruise ships, no worries…The only traffic jams are usually because some goats or donkeys are crossing the road! It’s been a favorite winter escape of ours for over thirty years and it never fails to charm.
Vacation Thoughts and Global Entry
The destination is less important than the change of pace – disrupting the routine and exploring something new is what I love…
Vieques 2014
The first thing I did when we were considering a trip to Vieques was to google how to pronounce it! The simplest pronunciation I found was B-A-K. Seemed easy enough. Once we arrived, I heard it said so many different ways that I just stopped saying it. It is also known as Isla Nena, Puerto Rico’s little sister – that seemed easier to pronounce.
Bermuda
The customs officer at the airport in Bermuda asked us if this was our first trip to the island. When we responded “yes,” he said “what took you so long?!”Our taxi driver asked us the same question as she gave us a mini tour on the way to our hotel, clearly displaying her national pride.
